Joint Committee Urban Drainage
Facilitating international collaborations in urban drainage research

The JCUD hosts several working groups around the major teams of research in the field of Urban Drainage. These working groups organise events including international conferences and (online) workshops, write position papers, and enable international collaborations in the respective fields. Below, more information can be found via the respective website and links to contact the committees are provided.

The specific relevant content for this request, if necessary, delimited with characters: The International Working Group on Data and Models (IWGDM) aims to further the research and aid the dissemination of knowledge and technology related to data collection and modeling of urban drainage systems. Every three years, the working group organizes an international conference (UDM).

The Sewer Systems and Processes Working group aims to disseminate information about sewer systems and coordinate research and development activities relating to the physical aspects, physical, chemical, and microbial processes, and interactions with sources and destinations (treatment plants or the environment). Every three years, the working group organises an international conference (SPN).

The international working group on Urban Rainfall (IGUR) aims to disseminate knowledge, technology, and existing procedures relating to the measurement and processing of rainfall and snow data in urban hydrology to practitioners and researchers. It also aims to coordinate and pursue activities related to all aspects of rainfall-related phenomena and urban hydrology.

The Urban Drainage Asset Management working group has its roots in the series of European research workshops, but has expanded to the rest of the world since. The working group continues to organise these EURO-SAM workshops, but also produces position papers and organises dedicated sessions on asset management at international conferences. It aims to further the research and disseminate knowledge, tools and practices relating to the asset management of all urban drainage assets, that is to say mostly (but not limited to) stormwater control measures and pipes. Asset management encompasses approaches such as monitoring, condition and performance assessment, deterioration modelling, decision support, operation, maintenance and rehabilitation techniques and planning.
